As a Meow Wolf Artist I will be creating and installing a chill zone immersive hut and other festival decorations for this year's Taos Vortex Music & Arts Festival. It's been a month since I started working full-time as an Artist Fabricator on the Meow Wolf Art Team here in Santa Fe, New Mexico. If you haven't heard of Meow Wolf, they are a radically inclusive art collective turned company that creates large immersive exhibits utilizing cutting-edge media, technology, materials, narrative, and more...

It's a new paradigm in the art world. A non-gallery, non-not-for-profit, radical art company that supports their artists with great salaries and benefits. I'm stoked to be around so many talented, inspired, and fun individuals. Working in a collective is new for me, but I'm up for the challenge and I'm loving it so far. Meow Wolf's first permanent exhibition is in Santa Fe but we will be opening new locations in Denver and Las Vegas in the coming years. Check out www.meowwolf.com for some great visuals!

I'm settling in after my recent move to Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is a snapshot of my new in-home studio before it turned into a complete mess. I'm continuing to do freelance graphic design, branding/logo, and web design both locally and remotely across the country. There are over 100 art galleries here so I am scoping out ones that may be a good fit to represent and sell my work.

I've also been volunteering some of my time to help out in the creative studios of Meow Wolf, an amazing immersive art extravaganza that is literally one block from my house. They employ a number of creatives from all walks of life and they're a super fun crowd to be around!

My own artwork is in a bit of a transition phase and although I have been playing with some different imagery, I don't yet have a clear direction for my next body of work and have been spending most of my free time reading about neuroscience and transpersonal psychology...

JaelahFAD will be re-imagining the Land Line performative installation at this year's ARTBASH. 

​

ARTBASH returns in 2016 to the Pershing in east Austin. The event will kick-off the East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) on Friday, November 11th and the venue will then remain open to the public for both weekends of EAST. Art Alliance’s exhibition and lounge at the Pershing Gallery will be a unique destination for art enthusiasts, artists, galleries, critics, collectors, scene junkies & casual creative class followers. 

The exhibition will be open to the public both weekends of EAST and will have additional programs and events, beginning with ARTBASH, Friday November 11th.  ARTBASH will layer temporary site-specific installations and performance pieces over the existing exhibition to create dynamic and exciting evening for art and preview of the East Austin Studio Tour.

Visit the JaelahFAD Studio during EAST! We will be showcasing the interdisciplinary work of Hector Carmona Miranda (photo, metal, 3D design) and jewelry by Patience Blythe. Canopy will be the hub of the tour, housing numerous galleries and 50+ studios & creative businesses under one roof. A great mix of art, drinks, food, music, and community!

Five teams of creatives (visual artists, theater artists, and dancers/choreographers) will collaborate on faux-fashion-as-wearable-art to create performance art presentations that will pound our runway in over-the-top revelry. Jaelah is collaborating with choreographer Jason Phelps in this performance curated by Los Outsiders.

KINECT the kinetic tequila barrel sculpture by JaelahFAD will be on display in the Herradura Barrel Art exhibition at Austin's Mexic-Art Museum through August 22, 2015. 10 artists were invited to compete and accept the challenge of making a masterpiece out of a tequila distillery barrel. KINECT won 3rd place in Austin's 2014 competition. 

Kathryn Zimmerhanzel interviews Jaelah Kuehmichel to get the scoop behind her recent solo interdisciplinary exhibition LAND LINE at Test Tube Gallery in Austin, TX (May 2015).
